El Dorado Celebrates America’s 250th with Two Days of Community Events

El Dorado is getting ready to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with two days full of family fun, patriotic pride, and community events. From classic Independence Day traditions to special America 250 activities, there will be plenty of ways for residents and visitors to celebrate together.

The celebration begins on Friday, July 3, at East Park, 100 S. Woodland, with an evening of activities for all ages. Families can enjoy the annual Bike Parade at 5:30 p.m., followed by the always-popular Turtle Races at 6 p.m. A free hot dog feed will begin at 6:15 p.m., available while supplies last, and the Home Run Derby starts at 6:30 p.m.

Throughout the evening, guests can also enjoy free popcorn and snow cones, an inflatable obstacle course, craft stations, yard games, and more.

The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4, with the America 250 Parade at 9 a.m. in downtown El Dorado. Businesses, organizations, and community groups are invited to participate and show their American pride with a float. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Spectators are encouraged to bring sunscreen, water bottles, and chairs as the community gathers downtown to celebrate this historic milestone.

Later that day, families can cool off at the Free Swim from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Municipal Pool, 900 N. Taylor. Concessions will be available.

The evening continues at McDonald Stadium, 298 N. Griffith, with a Veterans Ceremony at 6:15 p.m. before the baseball game. The ceremony will honor Veterans, Active Duty military, and First Responders. It will include service dog presentations, recognition of a Gold Star family, a flyover, the National Anthem, American Legion Riders, and more. Free Celebration of Freedom Veterans shirts will be available to Veterans while supplies last.

At 7 p.m., the U.S. Military WarDogs will take on the El Dorado Walnuts for an evening of baseball, concessions, information booths, giveaways, and a raffle. After the game, guests are invited to stay for the fireworks show at McDonald Stadium.

Residents planning to shoot fireworks are reminded to follow the City’s legal dates and times:
June 27 through July 3 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., July 4 from 8 a.m. to midnight, and July 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fireworks may not be discharged on public property, including City parks, or on private property without permission.

Join the community as El Dorado celebrates America’s 250th with family-friendly fun, patriotic traditions, and a full schedule of events. For the complete schedule and additional details, visit the City of El Dorado’s America’s 250th Celebration page.
